Pedro Vaz, cello
Born in Portugal, Pedro Vaz began his cello studies at the age of thirteen at Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior with Miguel Rocha. During this time he also had tuition with Catherine Strynckx, Philippe Muller, Paulo Gaio Lima, Jeroen den Herder, Márcio Carneiro and Evelien Prakké. Pedro has participated in numerous youth orchestras in Portugal, working with conductors such as Roberto Perez, Oswaldo Ferreira, Luis Cipriano and Chistopher Bochmann.
Having a special interest in baroque music, he has performed and worked with specialists in this field, namely Rainer Zipperling, António Oliveira e Silva, Álvaro Pinto, Enrico Onoffri, Richard Gwilt and Angel San Pedro. In 2006, Pedro commenced studies with Jan-Ype Nota and Michel Strauss at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, The Netherlands.
